Board of Management report 04/17

A meeting of the BOM took place in the school on Monday, November 13th. All members of the board attended except Fr. John Walsh and Helen Lenehan.

The board was informed that there were some problems with the heating system in recent weeks. This is due to an issue with the amount of pressure in the school’s water supply.  A temporary solution is currently in place and hopefully the situation can be permanently  remedied in the near future.

The board noted and welcomed the installation of speed calming measures by the TII. However, the board hopes to push for even further measures, such as the reduction of the speed limit in the village to 50 kph and the relocation of the speed-checking sign near the Hall to the other side of the road.

Head lice remain a problem in the school and parents are asked to be diligent in checking their children for these.

Christmas concerts: The annual shows will take place on December 14th.  The infants classes’ show will be at 12 noon in the school hall, followed by 1st and 2nd class, at 1.15pm, in the same location. The older children’s carol service (3rd to 6th classes) will then take place in the church at 2.15pm that same day.

Critical incident policy: This is the next policy that needs updating. Hopefully the board will have a draft to consider at the next meeting.

School photos were due to be taken on Monday, November 20th. However, it now looks as if this will have to be rearranged, as several classes will be in PE gear on that date.

The next meeting of the board will take place on January 15th, 2018, in the school.
