Camogie County Champions
Huge congratulations to our camogie team, winners of the Cumann na mBunscoil mini-7’s county championship, beating Gaelscoil na Cruaiche in the final on Friday. Well done to all involved!

Mass and Confessions
As the 8th of Dece
mber is the feast of the Immaculate Conception 2nd-6th Class will be going to Mass in the parish church at 10am.
Fr. Walsh and Fr. Kelly will be hearing the children’s confessions on Wednesday the 9th December.
A new android app “SelfieCop” has been launched to help parents safe-guard their children’s online activity. If your child has access to a smart phone we strongly recommend downloading this app (free until January 2016), recommended by the ISPCC. Click here to visit the website and download.

This is Science Week and this year we are taking part in the 2015 Mayo Science & Technology Festival and the theme is 2.0: Design Your Future. We are being represented by our 5th Class in the regional finals on Wednesday 11th November in the McWilliam Hotel, Claremorris. Finalists from each region will be invited to attend the Science In Action Open Day in the GMIT, Castlebar on Sunday 15th Novemeber where the winning team will be announced.

Setanta Christmas Book Club
A Setanta Book Club Catalogue has been sent home to each family. All orders must be placed online, the school will not be collecting money and placing orders this year. However, please feel free to use the school’s postal address for delivery as it is free when delivered to the school. We will contact you when your delivery arrives.
Parent Teacher Meetings
All Parent Teacher meeting will take place on Thursday 12th November. Please check your child’s bag for a slip of paper with your time slot on it.
School closes at 3 pm tomorrow for the Halloween Break. School re-opens Monday 2 nd November. I hope you all have a happy Halloween Break and don’t forget to turn the clocks back 1 hour on Saturday night.

Children can place an order for a Christmas Annual this week. For those who are new to these, the Christmas Annual is a magazine that is full of Christmas activities – art, craft ideas, puzzles and stories. They are graded according to ability therefore t
here is one for each double class grouping. I.E. One magazine for Junior and Senior Infants, one for 1st and 2nd Class and so on. They are not compulsory to purchase, but if you wish to buy please complete the application form in your child’s bag and return to school with €3 in an envelope by Friday 23rd October.
MMR and 4in1 Vaccinations.
The MMR and 4in1 vaccinations for Junior Infants takes place tomorrow. if you wish to accompany your child during the vaccination please contact us and we will let you know when the Vaccination Team arrive.
Rainbow/Spectrum is a peer-support group programme to assist children and young people experiencing a significant loss in their lives through a death, separation or divorce in their family.
We have received information with regard to a course starting in the Cúram Centre, Claremorris. please contact the school if you would like further information
Football training with Mr Dillon will commence next week – Wednesday October 14th from 3pm to 4pm. This year all children from 2nd to 6th Class are invited to participate. Children in these classes have a permission slip in their bag which they need to return to school.

Maths Week 2015: Next week from the 10th-18th October is Maths Week Ireland. Our school is registered for this event and we are encouraging all our children to actively participate in Maths Week Ireland. On our website there will be links made available to access fun maths games and activities for children of all ages and abilities. Please encourage your child to ‘click’ into one of these activities. School Notice: The Irish Defence Forces are coming to visit our school on Friday 25th September at 9.30am. The ceremony will take place in the school hall and will last @30mins. There will be a talk and the school will receive a copy of The Proclamation and The Irish Flag. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing everyone there.

1st Class Homework
Our homework routine each night will be as follows:
Reading: The number of pages will vary according to text and individual reading level of each child.
Gaeilge:“Léigh sa Bhaile” One page of Irish reading each night for homework.
Tables: Focus on learning 4 tables per night and revise all tables on Thursday for our class test on Friday.
Spellings: Write 3 sentences with 3 spellings Monday-Wednesday, 1 spelling Thursday and revise all for test Friday. Spellings for the week will be stapled into your child’s homework journal.
Maths: Work It Out 1, one unit per night.
Please listen to your child’s reading and check their written work is completed to the best of their ability. Homework journal should be signed each night.
