Huge Congratulations to the Hurling Under 14 team on winning the shield and Na Brideoga Under 14 team on winning the cup at Féile in Carlow at the weekend. We were delighted to have the cup and shield visit the school today and are very proud of all students past and present who represented their community so wonderfully! Congratulations!
Junior and Senior Infants had a brilliant time in Funster Castlebar and in the Museum of Country Life, Turlough. Thanks to the parents who came and helped out on the day, it was much appreciated.
It is greatly appreciated the work the Parents’ Association did earlier in the year organising a clothes collection. We were able to buy 20 Gaelic footballs with the funds that were raised. The footballs are suitable for all age groups – First Touch (u-8), Quick Touch (u-10), Smart Touch (U-12).

Well done to our senior Hurling Team who played in a Cumann na mBunscoil Hurling Blitz in Tooreen today. They won both of their matches against Barnacarroll & Carracastle and will now play in the Division 2 final in McHale Park on Monday,May 29th. Well done to all involved!
There was five entries from Tooreen NS for Scór na bPáistí. We had a drama group, a ballad group, a music group, a solo singer and a recitation. The drama group and the recitation got through but unfortunately the music group, ballad group and the solo singer didn’t, but we have high hopes for them in future years.
In the final round everybody had a few nerves but we had great fun and did our best. When results came in, sadly neither the drama or the recitation won but we were happy with our performance and we hope to try again next year!

On Sunday April 2nd in McHale Park Castlebar our 5th and 6th class girls took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil half time exhibition game. We played in the white Mayo jerseys. There were over 14,000 spectators in the stands. As the Senior Mayo Team ran out on to the pitch we formed a guard of honour. As half time drew closer we prepared for our moment of glory on the pitch. Tensions were running high as Cormac Reilly blew the half time whistle.
We were playing Snugboro NS ,a school from Castlebar. We ran out onto the pitch and we took our positions. We took early possession as our superb forwards Alice, Anna and Rebecca sent the sliotar into the back of the net. Snugboro’s goalie hit the sliotar straight into the hand of our backs , Aoibhin , Emer and Kate. they quickly cleared the ball up to our midfielders Caoimhe and Geri-Maye. Geri-Maye then hit a deadly shot past the goalie’s outstretched hurley. Snugboro then counter-attacked with a goal even Anthony Nash couldn’t save. Our goalie Roisin then pucked it out to Caoimhe who then sent phenomenal shot over the bar. We were now on a roll and Geri-Maye then sealed the deal with a spectacular point from half way down the pitch. The referee from Westport blew the final whistle and our match ended with a score of 3-2 to 1-0 to Tooreen NS.
We really enjoyed our day out in McHale Park and we are very thankful for this opportunity. We wish the Mayo Senior Team the best of luck in their journey for Sam. Hon Mayo!!!!!
